Everybody’s got a story. Some are polished like heirloom silver, others are chipped mugs with hairline cracks… but every single one? Secretly, shamelessly, stubbornly about love.

Mine included.

I have a soft spot ( incurable weakness) for other people’s stories too. I collect them the way some people collect vintage stamps or mildly concerning houseplants. Am I addicted? Oh, absolutely. To love stories. The messy ones. The inconvenient ones. The “this-was-a-bad-idea-but-here-we-are” ones. Because really … strip away the car chases, the inheritance feuds, the dragons … and what are you left with? Love. It’s always love ❤️. Sneaky like that.

“Pamela! Dinner’s ready!”

Mother’s voice ricocheted up the staircase with the authority of a town crier and the impatience of someone who has already called twice.

“Yes, Mother, I’ll be right down!” I chirped, injecting my reply with the appropriate level of daughterly promptness. One does not trifle with Mother’s dinner summons. A delayed response results in *The Temper* … a theatrical performance in three acts featuring sighs, clattering cutlery, and a monologue about gratitude.

So down I go, abandoning my latest love story mid-swoon, as the characters linger in their tender moments, pausing between confessions and stolen glances, because even the grandest romances must pause for roast potatoes, the irresistible aroma wafting through the air, demanding my attention and coaxing me into the kitchen where golden, crispy perfection awaits, reminding me that sometimes, the sweetest moments in life are found not only in stories of heartache and passion but also in the simple joy of comfort food, nourishing both body and soul .

Maybe I am addicted to roast potatoes too? That’s not bad, right? What about coffee… a skinny cap?
