Conversation 9, We May Have Found Him

Two women having coffee feeling very pleased about their discovery
*(Black Knight... no armour)*

Ava didn’t say anything at first.

Which, Sienna knew, meant something had already happened.

They were halfway through coffee before Sienna spoke.

“So,” she said casually,
“are we updating the taxonomy, or are we pretending nothing is happening?”

Ava stared at her.

“You’re relentless.”

“Noted,” Sienna said, opening her phone.

Ava exhaled.

“He’s consistent.”

Sienna froze mid-type.

“Say that again.”

“He’s consistent,” Ava repeated.

“And before you say anything… yes, I checked.”

Sienna leaned forward slightly.

“How long?”

“Long enough.”

Sienna didn’t type immediately.

Which is how Ava knew this mattered.

“He doesn’t disappear,” Ava said.

“He doesn’t overpromise.”

“He doesn’t make me feel like I need to decode anything.”

Sienna nodded slowly.

“Go on.”

Ava hesitated.

This was the part she didn’t like.

“I don’t feel anxious,” she said.

Silence.

Sienna blinked.

Once.

“Right,” she said quietly.

“Well.”

She picked up her phone again.

Ava frowned.

“That’s it?”

Sienna looked up.

“That’s everything.”

Ava shifted.

“I thought it would feel more… intense.”

Sienna smiled slightly.

“That’s because you’re used to instability feeling like chemistry.”

Ava didn’t argue.

Which, again, meant something had shifted.

“So what is this?” Ava asked.

Sienna tilted her head.

Then, very calmly, she typed.

Black Knight Taxonomy – Update

Not defined by intensity.

Defined by consistency without performance.

Ava watched her.

“That’s it?”

Sienna locked her phone.

“That’s the whole category.”

Ava sat back.

Let that land.

“And what if I’m wrong?” she asked.

Sienna shrugged lightly.

“Then we revise.”

Ava smiled slightly.

“You’re very relaxed about my emotional life.”

Sienna smiled back.

“I’m very committed to the dataset.”

Ava laughed.

Finally.

Sienna lifted her coffee.

“To field research,” she said.

Ava shook her head, still smiling.

And somewhere between the joke and the truth…

something settled.

Not dramatic.

Not mythical.

Just steady.

Sienna took one last sip.

Then added, almost as an afterthought—

“We may have found him.”
