After months of emotional fog, Ava didn’t expect lightning.
The Wounded had moved slowly through life, carrying his shadows carefully.
The next man Ava met did the opposite.
He ignited every conversation with a spark.
Sienna recognised the forecast immediately.
Another entry for the Black Knight Taxonomy.
Today’s classification: **The Wildfire.**
He had chemistry that bent gravity.
Arguments sparked like flint.
Kisses were electrifying.
With him, Ava burned bright enough to light a city block.
“My hair would be singed,” Ava declared.
“No curling wands could ever compete.”
Sienna watched from the edge of one restaurant dinner and murmured,
“This one’s cinematic. Brace.”
“That’s good,” Ava said.
Sienna tilted her head.
“Not always.”
She wasn’t wrong.
He arrived like lightning.
Sudden. Bright. Impossible to ignore.
With him, conversation didn’t drift.
It sparked.
Ava would make a point.
He’d challenge it.
She’d push back.
He’d grin.
“You enjoy this,” she said once.
“Debate?”
“Chaos.”
“Same thing,” he replied.
Conversations became a contest.
Ava made an observation.
He turned it into a challenge.
“He argues for sport,” Ava complained later.
Sienna raised an eyebrow.
“And you keep answering.”
Ava paused.
The last conversation burned out quickly.
Silence followed.
Ava stared at the empty glass in front of her.
The ending was operatic… raised voices, slamming doors, rain that felt suspiciously well-timed.
“Well,” she said eventually.
“That was intense.”
Sienna nodded.
“Train guy isn’t intense.”
Ava smiled slightly.
“No.”
Later, Ava lay on Sienna’s couch staring at the ceiling.
“Is it me?” she asked.
Sienna didn’t hesitate.
“No. You’re calibrating.”
Sienna opened her Notes app.
“Immediate intensity, no longevity.”
